Employment>Sales Engineer


     The responsibilities of the Sales Engineer in the Corporate and Government Practice are to meet or exceed sales objectives by working with the Corporate and Government Sales Team to craft solutions built upon Astornet products and services that address client needs.

Specifically s/he will be responsible for:

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The Account Manager (AM) for Government Accounts is responsible for account retention of clients in an assigned territory, developing and expanding existing client relationships, identifying additional revenue opportunities within those clients, and working closely with the Regional Sales Manager on those clients. The AM is responsible for being familiar with Astornet's products and services, and being able to explain their value and relevance to clients.

With the ultimate goal being retention and loyalty, the Account Manager should:

  • Answering technical questions related to Astornet products and services for sales team members and clients
  • Developing solutions with the Regional Sales Manager and clients in response to needs
  • Identifying services to grow sales to new and existing clients, primarily in a pre-sales role
  • Performing scope calls (gathering requirements for inclusion in service proposals)
  • Writing service proposals and statements of work (SOW)
  • Defending service proposals with client if needed
  • Building and demonstrating Astornet's products and services to clients
  • Keeping abreast of competition, competitive issues and products
  • Attending and participating in sales meetings, product seminars and trade shows
  • Preparing written presentations, reports and price quotations
  • Understanding purchasing nuances of the industry
  • Making hardware recommendations to clients
  • Maintaining industry/market expertise
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • 3 – 5 years of pre-sales support experience, preferably in enterprise sales/e-Learning environment
  • Experience in working with corporate and government agency clients
  • Recent experience working at a software firm is desirable
  • Programming language experience required (Java, .Net, and Perl preferred but not required)
  • Understanding of database architecture including Oracle and SQLServer
  • Understanding of web technology
  • Proven ability to craft a solution and develop proposals and RFP responses with appropriate products and services based on client discussions
  • Proven ability to engage with CIO and all levels of client contacts to propose, present and discuss technical solution
